Here She Is...

ACADIA GRAY STEWART
Here are some photos of labor and our most wonderful experience at Mercy Hospital (and proof that not all newborns look like aliens).

It was truly an overwhelmingly beautiful event.

It started out a waiting game...we were all pumped when we checked in, and 24 hours later after cervidil and pitocin, still nothing. Luckily they had T.V.

About 9:15am they broke Wynn's water. REAL contractions started 15 minutes later. Wynn was amazing. She just relaxed and got in the zone--and it seemed like she just let her body do its thing. She tried lots of positions.
Standing.
Swimming.
Bouncing.

In the end she got on the bed, and with a little help with a big suction cup, or "vacuum," because of questionable heart rate, the baby came out (red, alert, and angry) within 3 1/2 hours of when it all started.
She was understandingly a little upset that Mom pushed her out of a such a wonderful, warm, dark and cozy world.

But quickly realized it wasn't so bad. Nice and bright-eyed for a couple minutes old.

Mom recovered nicely. She was stellar throughout labor! And baby is latching and eating well.
Even crossed eyed, she is so darling.

And in the end, they actually let us dress her up and take her home!
