Life ELEVATED

We found some elevation yesterday in North Conway NH. It is a small cute little town on the border of Maine and New Hampshire. It is home of the White Mountains, part of the Appalachian Mountains. It was a nice change of scenery for Wynn and I as we were feeling homesick for some mountains. Its not the Rockies (as you probably know, the Appalachian Mountains are much older than the Rockies and have therefore been smoothed and rounded much more than the Rockies), but it was beautiful and in a couple weeks it will probably become one of the most stunning places in America with the colors of fall foliage.

You can see the famous and antique Mt. Washington Hotel set in front of the tallest mtn in NH also called Mt. Washington.

This is an old train station (still functioning) where you can catch a scenic ride through the White Mountains. Very popular in the fall.
This is Wynn at the top of Black Cap Mtn. It was a fun short hike. (You can see North Conway down in the valley).
This is a local Audobon Trail a few minutes from our house. On Thursday morning I took a guided bird watching walk here and saw kingfishers, osprey, cormorants, ducks, sandpipers, woodpeckers, blue jays, etc.
