General Conference October 2008

Dear Family,

Here's and idea....One of my favorite conference past times has been sitting around as a family sharing our thoughts and inspirations from conference.  As we are all spread out we don't have a chance for that kind of family discussion.  This is where the blog comes in.  I hope whoever feels so compelled will write their own POST (instead of just commenting on this post) sharing their thoughts and then each post can have its own running set of commentaries specifically on that comment or idea -  it would be a beautiful way to share conference as a family.

On a totally different note I was absolutely horrified as I was searching for a Temple picture to come across a most terrible blog, flagrantly displaying some of the things we hold most sacred and dear to us as endowed members of the church.  I am not so naive to think that these things don't exist but I had never personally come across it, nor gone looking for it.  Now I am not suggesting that we go out searching for these blasphemous sites deliberately, as I believe that so doing would cause more damage to us, but I did feel compelled to share a thought;  As members of the church we are well aware of our responsibility to speak out on behalf of the Church whenever an opportunity arrises and to be constant promoters of the Church.  Blogging bring this into an entirely different arena.  There are now many more publishers on the web, regular people - but we now have the chance to be active in these pages and to write comments and be active in discussion.  As we go about sharing and defending the Gospel we must be aware of this medium and it's great power for good and evil.  There are hundreds of thousands of blogs and millions of posts and comments, but I do sincerely believe that just one comment could make a difference...even if it be in the life of just one person.
I want to reference a really powerful talk by Elder Ballard about the importance of using the internet as a missionary tool.  Click HERE to read it.

Enjoy the rest of Conference.

Wynn, such a wonderful idea and yes I will participate. I miss gathering around the table as well. I could write an entire discourse on the inspiring talks of today but I shall wait til tomorrow. The pic. of the temple is so beautiful and my question is...did you write a comment on that horrific blog site? I love and admire you so. mom

Yes Wynn I agree that is a fabulous idea...only made more fabulous by the fact that it was actually LIBBY's idea?

Lovely Lib, we try to do this and I hope, like you, that it may make a difference someday to someone.
