House - September 13th

Hi all. I thought you would like some recent pictures from the house. They aren't in any particular order but they do show some of the changes.
This is a hole that was cut in the basement floor to pour a footing so that our new heavier roof can be supported. A heating duct was right there and so we had to get that rerouted. Note the heavy rebar to keep things proper. We should pour the concrete for this hole, and all holes in the basement, and the supports for the balcony on Monday.
This is a picture of the basement bedroom right under Mom's office. It has a stupendous view of Mount Olympus. The stones that will make up the window well are being moved into place this week.
Here is the corner basement bedroom, right below the Master bedroom. The windows are framed in and that black wall has now been taken down. It was the last of the bricks on the house to remain, but now there are now original bricks left. The windows should go in either late this week or early next week.
Well look who showed up to check on the progress of things. Good thing I was there or he would have hopped in that steam shovel and had some fun. The shovel is in the driveway and has been used to prepare the driveway space and move rocks around so that we can get the window well done.
The big news is the roof. It is hard to see the complexity here but it is basically a roof on top of a roof in the center part of the house. The roof is now all framed out and they should start putting the tar paper up on Tuesday.
This is the roof over the bedrooms upstairs. One of our three furnaces will go right in that dark space in the upper middle of the picture.
Here is the outside look above Dad's Office. The gables are pretty much in so that you can see the true outline of the top of the house.
Here you can see the other gable and the kitchen windows. The front entry roof has yet to be done. The tree that used to be on the East side of the driveway is now in front of the kitchen, courtesy of the steam shovel.
They have started the stairs at the rear of the house. These are the steps down to the basement from the back of the garage. It is not what I thought but id does give more room for storage that I expected.
Oh - and if you are curious - I do like my new job. I did my free week, it was good, and I will actually start to get paid on Monday. I am hopeful and optimistic.
Love,
Dad
