Ok check it out...Peter gave us a painting for Christmas but then ended up giving it to someone else (long story). We have an opportunity to pick out something else and Emy and I were looking at this painting we found online that is currently on display at the Church History Museum...what do you guys think?

We came to the Sweetwater [and] there we had to cross. We thought we would have to wade the water, as the cattle . . . had broken the ice. There were . . . brave men [including David P. Kimball, C. Allen Huntington, Stephen W. Taylor, and George W. Grant] there in the water packing the women and children on their backs. Those poor brethren were in the water nearly all day. We wanted to thank them but they would not listen. ‘We have come to help you.’ . . . They are rather rough fellows in their manners but we found they all had kind, good hearts. Poor Brother Kimball stayed so long in the water that he had to be taken out and packed to camp. And he was a long time before he recovered as he was chilled through.”

That is a beautiful painting. What is the background? The Saints crossing the plains or a specific story?
